Tag 13: When Britons Are On Holiday/Bank Holiday

When Britons Are On Holiday

As the holiday season came to an end, some pollsters asked Britons how much they enjoyed a break away from home. Most people were satisfied with their holidays, and according to some tabloids, which published the results of the poll, "only an occasional cloud obscured the sun".

The main complaints were about delays and traffic jams. Seventy-two per cent of those questioned were annoyed by these. Even more 76 per cent were irritated by the lack of information given about the cause of delays. The things people liked most about going on holiday were being able to enjoy the beauties of nature

(90 per cent), just being away from home (89 per cent), spending more time with their partner (89 per cent) and meeting new people (88 per cent).

The tabs findings show that 74 per cent of the adult population have been away from home on holiday for four nights or more during the past three years. One in five take three or more holidays a year. Those who stay at home are mainly the elderly and the less well off. Ninety per cent of professionals and executives have been on holiday in the last three years. Only 56 per cent of unskilled workers have.

By the way -

Bank Holiday
